Frequently Asked Questions
Does this calculator include or exclude the start and end dates?
The calculator counts the number of calendar days between two dates. It excludes both endpoints โ so from January 1 to January 3 returns 2 days. If you need to include both endpoints (e.g. a billing period), add 1 to the result.
How do I calculate how many days until a future date?
Set today as the start date using the '๐ Today' button, then enter your target date as the end date. The result shows exactly how many days remain.
Does the calculator account for leap years?
Yes. The calculation is based on actual calendar dates, so a range crossing February 29 in a leap year (e.g., 2024-01-01 to 2024-12-31) correctly returns 365 days.
Can I calculate working days only (excluding weekends)?
The date difference calculator counts all calendar days including weekends and holidays. For working-day calculations, you would need a dedicated business-day calculator or use the NETWORKDAYS function in Excel.
What is the 'Add / Subtract Days' feature for?
The Add/Subtract feature calculates a future or past date from a starting point. For example: 'What date is 90 days from today?' โ enter today as the start and 90 as the number of days to add. Useful for contract deadlines, subscription renewals, and project timelines.
